Getting Started with Kanban: Visualizing your work & establishing flow

2 day public or private workshop for leaders and/or practitioners

When teams or organizations have problems delivering, its rarely a problem with the people. I've seen too many groups of really talented people working long and hard but not getting anything done. Throwing more people at this problem only serves to complicate the issue rather than solve the problem. The solution lies in fixing the issues that the people face as they are working.

Kanban is a Lean process framework that forces our issues to the surface so we can improve our ability to add more value with less stress. When learning and improving is done consistently, you create a culture of learning that can transform your entire organization for the better.

Attend and learn to tame the chaos by making visualization your superpower, putting a focus on focus, and embarking on a journey of continuous improvement. You might even leave with a Kanban system design!

Professional Scrum Foundations (PSF) - Scrum.Org

2 day public or private workshop for leaders and/or practitioners

Professional Scrum FoundationsTM (PSF) is a 2-day course that provides the foundational knowledge needed to work with Scrum in a highly practical way. The course is a combination of instruction and team based exercises where students experience how the Scrum framework improves product delivery efforts. The course also includes a free attempt at the globally recognized Professional Scrum Master I certification exam (PSM I).

Over the 2 days, students experience Professional Scrum: learning the framework and gaining insights into overcoming complexity, with team-based collaboration and self-organization as essential elements in mastering Scrum. Students work together as a team in a series of Sprints to build a product, thereby facing real-life problems. The rules, roles, and principles of Scrum are leveraged during the exercises. From its emphasis on the practical application of Scrum, the course exposes common missteps and misunderstandings so students grow a higher awareness of the associated symptoms. The course provides prescriptive guidance to avoid going off track and keep Scrum healthy.

Measuring What Matters: Building Your Metrics Portfolio

1 day public or private workshop for practitioners

There's a famous quote by Eli Goldratt that says "Tell me how you measure me and I'll tell you how I'll behave." He knew that metrics drive behavior. When you measure something it tells people you value it and they behave in ways to optimize for that metric. So, measuring the right things is extremely important. More often than we'd like, the problems we see in our workplaces can be traced back to metrics and incentives.

This interactive workshop will walk you through the process of choosing metrics based on desired outcomes, balancing your metrics to ensure a healthy organization, understanding what unintended behaviors your metrics might incentivize, and ensuring that your metrics portfolio stays up-to-date.

Predictability and Forecasting with Lean and Agile Metrics

2 day public or private workshop for practitioners

This hands-on workshop will provide you with the tools and knowledge you need to answer those questions predictably using their own data or example data, if necessary. Attendees will learn what metrics are necessary for accurate forecasting, how to visualize those metrics in appropriate analytics, how to use those analytics to make reliable / responsible forecasts and understand risk, and, finally, how to make meaningful interventions for overall process improvement.
